The Telangana government has been making massive arrangements since last month to ensure that the first Ramzan in the state is celebrated on a grand scale. Last month, KCR had sanctioned Rs 5 crore to ensure that all facilities were put in place at mosques across the state. On Wednesday, the CM directed all district headquarters to hold Iftar parties. KCR would also hold a grand Iftar party at the HICC, Madhapur, today
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday directed officials to organise Iftar parties at all district headquarters of the state. KCR held a review meeting on Wednesday which was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Mahmood Ali, Home Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy, Excise Minister T Padma Rao, Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma, DGP Anurag Sharma, Hyderabad Police Commissioner P Mahender Reddy, GHMC chief Somesh Kumar and other senior officials.
He said that he would hold a grand Iftar party at the HICC today. The CM enquired after the arrangements for the Ramzan month. During the meeting, he said that people should not face any inconvenience as it’s the first Ramzan for Telangana.
KCR also enquired about the power supply position in the city and said that efforts should be made to minimise inconvenience to those observing the Ramzan fast.
Talking about the facilities for devotees for Ramzan, Mahmood Ali said that temporary toilets had been provided near Mecca Masjid and permanent RCC toilets would be constructed later to suit the architecture of Mecca Masjid. Officials have been directed to make the structure rain-proof.
Last month, the deputy CM visited the Mecca Masjid, Miralam Idgah, Seven Tombs Idgah and Langarhouz Idgah.
The government has made elaborate arrangements to ensure that the festival is celebrated on a grand scale. The CM had sanctioned Rs 5 crore for Ramzan last month. Muslim employees in government offices have been permitted to return home at 4pm, an hour before the scheduled time. Hotels and shops have been given permission to remain open till late in the night.
Since Ramzan coincides with Bonalu, elaborate security arrangements had been made for the twin festivals. Police Commissioner Mahender Reddy said 13,000 policemen, including 40 companies of paramilitary forces, had been deployed to maintain law and order in the twin cities.
Padma Reddy said that each district had been sanctioned Rs 50 lakh for Ramzan festival.
Following petitions from inmates of various jails in Telangana complaining that they lacked facilities to perform ‘Namaz’, arrangements had been made in jails, including facilities to hold Iftar.
