The city’s Regional Passport Office has created a national record by issuing 84,752 passports in a single month (August 2014). The passport office had conducted a pendency clearance drive on a call from the joint secretary and chief passport officer Muktesh Kumar Pardeshi. The staff worked in two shifts including holidays, Saturdays and Sundays to clear a huge pendency which had accumulated due to shortage of booklets at the Indian Security Press (ISP), Nasik.
The passport office, on receipt of regular supply of booklets from ISP Nasik, undertook the pendency clearance drive and succeeded in printing 83,196 passport booklets. It dispatched 84,752 booklets in August despite many holidays, bettering their own record of 65,700 plus booklets in March this year.
Passport officer Ashwini Sattaru congratulated the entire passport processing team led by Dr Sirish, passport processing section in-charge, for their commitment and for putting in extra hours on weekdays and working on holidays. “Dedication and team work was the secret to success and this team created a national record which is hard to be broken,” she said.
