Kalinga Cultural Trust organised a Hindustani classical vocal concert by Harini Rao to celebrate Navratri festivities.

Harini, student of Guru Swati Phadke, started the concert with raag Bageshree, in which she sang the bade and chota khyals in jhaptaal and ektaal respectively. This was followed by a melodious Tulsidas bhajan on Lord Ganesha in raag Shuddh Kalyan. She then moved on to raag Saraswati and rendered a bandish composition of Dr Prabha Atre. "Pibare Rama Rasam", where Lord Rama is compared to nectar, an eternal favourite was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience.

Then came "Baje Re Muraliya" by pandit Bhimsen Joshi, a chaturang in raag Desdrut consisting of lyric, tarana, sargam and trivat. It was followed by a traditional bhajan, '"Jab Janakinath" by DV Paluskar and a Tulsidas bhajan "Jo Mohi Ram" in raag Bairagi Bhairav, which enthralled the audience. Marathi abhang of Tukaram in Maru Bihag raag was scintillating. A traditional stotram “Jai raam Rama” in raag Jaijawanti was captivating.

Harini concluded her much relished concert with "Bhavani Dayani" a popular madhya-laya bandish in raag Bhairavi and a Drut bandish of Prabha Atre "Jagatjanani Bhavatarini”.
