Deputy Transport Commissioner K Venkateswara Rao said that eight more centres will be set up at oil filling stations in the city for seeding vehicle registration numbers and driving licences with Aadhaar cards as there is an overwhelming response from vehicle owners.

Addressing NSS volunteers at Kakaraparti Bhavanarayana College (KBN) at Kothapet during the Aadhaar seeding training course, he said five special centres were already set up at oil filling stations in the city for the purpose. The centres will work from 6 am to 10 pm.

According to an estimate, there are more than 4 lakh vehicles in the city. Hence, it was decided to set up more seeding centres to complete the process at the earliest. Motorists can also furnish their details online by visiting the website www.aptransport.org.

Explaining the process of seeding of vehicle registration numbers and driving licences with Aadhaar cards, motor vehicle inspector Subba Rao said, “Owners would need to submit photocopies of their vehicle registration certificate, driving licence and Aadhaar card at the centres for linkage.”

The training programme was organised for the NSS by Madhavi, a representative of Mission for Elimination of Poverty in Municipal Areas (MEPMA).
