Loyola wins KRU basketball tourney

Andhra Loyola College won the Krishna University (KRU) Inter-college Basketball (Men) Tournament for 2014-15 which concluded at Kakaraparti Bhavanarayana (KBN) College on Tuesday. Sri Sarada College of Nuzvid and PB Siddhartha College of Arts and Science stood second and third in the two-day tournament.

Participating in the valedictory of the tournament as a chief guest, DSP E Ashok Kumar Goud of Guntur said that students should give equal importance to studies and sports for their holistic development. He lauded the college management for creating good sports infrastructure to encourage budding players.

Krishna University Sports Board secretary N Srinivasa Rao said that the varsity which laid emphasis on sports, increased the budget outlay for it to Rs 33 lakh this fiscal from Rs 7.5 lakh four years ago. He thanked the KBN College management for extending its cooperation to the university in conducting the tournament.

College president Uppala Sambasiva Rao, secretary S Rajith Kumar, in-charge principal V Subhashini, sports wing head D Hemachandra Rao, physical director M Sambasiva Rao, assistant physical director Parveen, former physical director Durgaprasad and others participated in the prize distribution function.
