Addressing the mediapersons at the Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium (IGMC), general secretary of the association VV Rama Rao said that there was no adequate support to yoga as a sport or as a physical activity despite its power to protect the human body from many disorders and diseases.

“Yoga is an ancient art that is carried forward by generations but lack sheen. The association formed in the State after bifurcation, will be taking out activities that will promote yoga among children, youngsters and senior citizens,” he said.

About nine participants from the Krishna district are going to participate in the 39th National Yogasana Sports Championship that will be held at Kotla Vijayawada Bhaskara Reddy stadium in Hyderabad from December 26 to 29.

“To our credit, two participants of the association have participated in Asian Yoga Championship organised in South Korea , Seoul in November and secured a gold medal in both 25-35 years and 14-17 years categories,” said Rama Rao.

The association appealed to leaders, corporate bigwigs and yoga lovers to promote yoga activities of the association.
