Abhiruchi Cultural Organisation staged ‘Okati Konte Okati Free’, a Telugu play at Velidandla Hanumantharaya Grandhalayam in the city on Wednesday. The play was staged as part of the birth anniversary celebrations of eminent film director Jandhyala.

The comedy play written by Jilani and directed by Gangadhara Rao focusses on a housewife’s craze for one plus one offers extended by showrooms and malls as part of their business promotion strategy. She is innocent and ready to buy anything if it comes with the offer. A thief enters the house through a window at night after conducting a recce in the guise of handing over the articles she bought during the offer and decamps with some valuables. In the meantime, her father visits the house. The woman and her husband catch hold of him in the darkness. Later, they forcibly put him into a gunny bag and hand it over to the police. When the police open the bag, the person in it is not the thief but the woman’s father.

The play ends on a happy note with a message to consumers to not get lured by offers of malls and showrooms.

The cast included Ayachitula Ramakrishna, Chandini, Gangadhara Rao, Kumar, Ramesh and Kantha Rao.
