Devineni insists on public co-operation for smart villages, Speaking on the occasion, Devineni said that the district officials and public must join hands for developing an action plan for the welfare of every ward that thus makes a smart village.

Irrigation minister Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao on Sunday took part in a 24 kilometre padayatra programme following the instructions of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to create awareness about achieving ‘Smart Village-Smart Ward’ in Andhra Pradesh. The walk began at Ibrahimpatnam and ended at Myalavaram.

Speaking on the occasion, Devineni said that the district officials and public must join hands for developing an action plan for the welfare of every ward that thus makes a smart village. People should contribute and co-ordinate to develop their villages and constituencies.

Devineni urged officials to utilise Rs 3 crore that was sanctioned by Vijayawada Thermal Power Station (VTPS) for the development of Kondapalli and Ibrahimpatnam.

“Public representatives should take up responsibility in providing amenities to the poor like washrooms, drinking water, telecommunications, roads, networking and skill development in the next three months,” the minister said.

District Collector A Babu, NTPS chief engineer Tammaiah, TDP State farmers association vice president Jamapala Seetharamaiah, ZPTC chairperson Chennuboyina Radha and other representatives accompanied the minister.
