Krishna District Superintendent of Police G Vijay Kumar on Thursday flagged off two Sumos allotted for highway patrol. Speaking on the occasion, the SP said that each highway patrol vehicle would cover a distance of 80 kilometre. The vehicle allotted to Sector 4 would cover Garikapadu, Jaggaiahpet, Nandigama and Ithavaram. In Sector 5, Keesara, Kanchikacherla, Ibrahimpatnam, Gollapudi and Bhavanipuram would be covered by the second patrol vehicle. Fourteen personnel drawn from the retired police, Army, paramedical wing and BSF would patrol the highway round-the-clock in three shifts.

“The district was also allotted 40 two-wheelers, 20 Boleros, seven jeeps and a bus from the new vehicles procured by the State government for the police department to improve its mobility,” the SP said.

Additional SP BDV Sagar, DSP Rushi Keshava Reddy, Armed Reserve DSP Chandrasekhar, SC/ST Cell DSP Hari Rajendra Prasad and others were present on the occasion.
