GHMC cracks whip on property tax defaulters
On a day that the Telangana government issued waiver of interest on arrears and current year dues of property tax up to March 31, 2015, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Circle No.8, swung into action and sealed 15 properties in a business tower at Tilak Road, Abids.

A Shailaja, deputy commissioner, Circle-8, informed that there are 80 properties in the complex of which 15 properties were sealed.
There are another 231 properties within the jurisdiction of Circle No.8, having the demand of the Rs 129 lakh. The officials said that if the defaulters do not pay up within seven days, the shops would be sealed.
The operation was conducted by P Venkata Ramana, additional director (fire), MD Shahnawaz Khan I/c Valuation Officer, Vinay Kapoor, Tax Inspector and K Nagaiah, bill collector. Taxes amounting to Rs 3.35 lakh have been locked, said an official.
