Students of Sri Vijnana Vihara English Medium High School, who participated in a State level drama contest organised by Abhinaya Arts in Tirupati recently, won six awards for their mythological drama ‘Ravana Kalyanam’.

Students of Sri Vijnana Vihara English Medium High School, who participated in a State level drama contest organised by Abhinaya Arts in Tirupati recently, won six awards for their mythological drama ‘Ravana Kalyanam’.

The drama written by Vemuri Nageswara Sarma, depicts the love of demon king Ravana for his queen, Mandodari. The students enthralled the audience with their excellent performance. The drama was adjudged the second best production. P Lakshmi Praneeta who donned the role of Mandodari, won the best actress award. Ch Sivaramakrishna got the second best actor award for his role Narada. It also bagged the best director (P Brahmananda Rao), best script (V Nageswara Sarma) and best make-up (Surabhi Raghu Babu) awards. Music for the drama was composed by K Govinda Rao, Sarma and Najar.

Lauding the achievement of the children, secretary Omkara Narasimham said, “We are encouraging students to actively take part in extracurricular activities to unearth their talent.”

School principal JVS Krishna attributed the achievement of the students to the support extended by their parents.
