After delaying the launch for months now, Maruti Suzuki has officially launched the 2015 Swift DZire compact sedan facelift in the country with prices starting at Rs. 5.07 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The country’s second best selling vehicle has now been updated with a mildly tweaked exterior while the feature list has been given the much-needed update which brings it closer to its rivals, the Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent and the Tata Zest in the segment.

Starting with the exteriors, the 2015 Maruti Swift DZire facelift gets a revised front fascia distinguishing it more effectively from the Swift hatchback. For better or worse, there is a new chrome single-slat grille that sits boldly upfront and comes with a revised front bumper that gets wider air intakes, new fog lamp enclosures and chrome inserts. The headlights have also been tinted on the 2015 version. Moving to the side profile, the new DZire remains virtually unchanged, save for the new 10-spoke alloy wheels wrapped on 15-inch tyres while the rear profile gets minimal updates sporting a mildly tweaked bumper which misses a fog light.

Step inside the cabin and the new DZire facelift greets you with a lot more features on offer. The interior layout is the same, but the cabin gets updated with start-stop function, keyless entry, automatic climate control, new audio system with Bluetooth telephony, reverse parking sensors, 60:40 split rear seats and electrically foldable ORVMs. There is also an updated MID screen on the instrument cluster that allows better information readability.

The 2015 Maruti Swift DZire continues to draw power from the existing 1.2-litre K-Series petrol and 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine option under the hood that have been mildly tweaked for better fuel efficiency. The engines come paired to the 5-speed manual transmission as standard while the petrol is also available with the 4-speed automatic unit on the mid-VXi trim. In terms of safety, the top variants get dual front airbags, updated ABS with EBD on the higher variants.

In addition, Maruti Suzuki has added more colours to the palette of the 2015 DZire with Eclair brown and maroon along with the usual white, red and blue. The company has already shipped the updated DZire units out to dealerships and deliveries are set to commence in the following days. With the new updates, the automaker is aiming to consolidate its position in the compact sedan space, especially with new arrivals expected soon.
