Children need more freedom for holistic growth.Dr Vishal Indla, director of Indla’s Child Guidance Clinic, has advocated greater freedom for children for their holistic development.
Dr Vishal Indla, director of Indla’s Child Guidance Clinic, has advocated greater freedom for children for their holistic development. Speaking on ‘Art of Parenting’ at a counselling session for mothers held at Bloomingdale Play School on Thursday, Dr Vishal said, “Parents should not put any kind of pressure on children during the crucial stage of growth. Children should be encouraged to pursue their areas of interest without imposing the parents’ choices on them. If children are given right freedom and allow them to act as per their choices, it will help them develop confidence, besides gaining mental toughness to face challenges in life. When children are depressed, they should be given moral support for their personality development.’’
Dr Vishal underlined the role of parents and teachers in moulding children into good citizens by imparting discipline and moral values among them since their childhood. “If a child seems to be upset, lagging behind in studies or feeling uncomfortable without taking proper diet and having good sleep, he should be nurtured with care so that he can overcome the problem. It is important for parents to devote as much time as possible to their children. Keeping a constant watch on children and their actions and spending quality time with them will help strengthen the family bond,'' he added.Nalanda School principal Madala Padmaja, parents counsellor Sri Lakshmi and teachers were present.
