The Singapore team is likely to submit the capital region development plan by the end of this month. The team members, who visited the capital region, are going to prepare a concept design plan giving top priority for greenery in the proposed capital of the State.

According to sources from the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA), the Singapore team would take into consideration aspects like the development of housing to prevent long distance travel of pubic to avoid carbon emission for the overall growth of the region. Priority would be given to world class public transport system in the capital region.

The team members would identify particular growth areas in all the places of the capital region, which is spread over 7,068 sq km.It may be noted that the government is successful in getting consent for nearly 30,000 acres for the development of the capital. The government is planning to speed up the process to showcase the capital region to instill confidence among the farmers whose lands were obtained in land pooling.

An official said that they were now busy in identifying the growth areas in the capital region, including an industrial sector, a logistic hub, cold storage chains and food processing units to provide value addition to agricultural projects.

Commenting on the lands being offered by the farmers voluntarily to the government, the official noted that the new capital region would become the first mega project in the country where such a large spread of land was acquired by a government. The UP, Gujarat and Haryana governments had offered residential plots to beneficiaries as part of land pooling. The offer provided by the AP government is the best one in the country, which would benefit farmer in a big way.

The official added that the CRDA officials were busy preparing detailed development plans for several regions as the Singapore team is expected to submit its concept plan by the month end.

The government is planning to provide more employment opportunities in and around the capital region and is looking forward to set up an industrial corridor. Priority would be given for water conservation, recycling, greener pastures and better infrastructure including road, rail and air connectivity to the capital region.
