Physical activities like sports, exercises and yoga enhance the abilities of students. Physical education also helps students to develop self-confidence, perseverance and team spirit. Equal importance must be given for education and sports for the holistic development of students.”He lamented that a majority of educational institutions and parents were not giving due importance to physical education.“There is a misconception among some parents that their children cannot fare well in academics if they are allowed to take part in sports.

The parents need to change their irrational mindset. Otherwise, their children will get themselves reduced to mere bookworms without any exposure to the outside world,” he said.Prof Y Kishore, Dean of Acharya Nagarjuna University (ANU), appreciated the physical education department of KBN College for organising a first-of-its-kind national seminar on sports, in collaboration with Krishna University. He also lauded the KBN College management for setting up an indoor stadium with all modern infrastructure to enable students to actively take part in sports.
