Addressing newsmen on Thursday, Dr P Ranjith Kumar, managing director of Ranjith Eye Hospital, explained the case details. “Chalapathi Rao of Bhimavaram in West Godavari district had been suffering from a tilted neck for the past 15 years.
When I narrated the case to my fellow eye specialists, they were amazed and asked me to present a lecture on it at the IMA meeting. With a corrective surgery to the eye nerve that got paralysed in the patient’s neck, both his vision and neck have been set right.
The fourth eye nerve that connects the brain and the eye got paralysed in the patient causing a tilt in his head and a blur in the vision. By performing a surgery, we were able to define his vision which has set right his unique problem. This is a rare case in nearly 2,000 squint eye surgeries I have performed so far,” the doctor explained.
