The 27th anniversary celebrations of Swarajhari, a non-profit organisation, began on a melodious note at Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College on Thursday. As part of its cultural activities to promote music and encourage budding talent, Swarajhari organises a music concert in the city every month.

An impressive violin solo by 11-year-old Vishnubhotla Shivani marked the commencement of the three-day anniversary fete. She began her concert with Saveri Varnam, followed by ‘Adamodi Galade’ (Charukesi ragam) and ‘Nanu Palimpa Nadachi Vachitiva’ (Mohana ragam), compositions Sri Thyagaraja Swamy. She concluded her violin solo with a Thillana. She was ably supported by Kundurthi Aravind on mridangam.

Later, Kamaraju Purnachandra Sai Karthikeya Adinarayana Sarma (10) presented an enchanting ‘Mridanga Laya Vinyasam’ in Aditalam. The first-day of the fete concluded with a vocal concert by Kothapalli Sridevi Pravallika of Gudivada. The girl rendered several compositions of Sri Thyagaraja Swamy and Sri Annamacharya with her melodious voice.

V Shivani on violin and K Aravind on mridangam lent instrumental music support to the vocal concert.As part of the anniversary celebrations of Swarajhari, the Munuganti Srirama Murthy Memorial Award was presented to Mallajosyula Jagannadha Rao, founder of Vijayanagar Fine Arts, Hyderabad. BS Ramachandra Rao, Modumudi Sudhakar and others were present on the occasion.
