Suzuki Plans To Export India-Made Gixxer 155 To Japan.Suzuki India made a comeback with the Gixxer 155 that changed the fortunes for the two-wheeler manufacturer in the country.
Suzuki India made a comeback with the Gixxer 155 that changed the fortunes for the two-wheeler manufacturer in the country. Developed for markets like India, the Gixxer has been at a dominant position in the premium 150cc segment and now Suzuki is contemplating to launch the street-fighter in Japan as well. Owing to the increasing popularity of such motorcycles in its home country, the Japanese giant is planning to export the India-made Gixxer to Japan from its Manesar plant to address the demand.
This is not for the first time Suzuki will be exporting bikes from other countries to Japan. In the past too, the manufacturer has exported small and mid-size motorcycles from its subsidiaries in China, Taiwan, Thailand and Indonesia. Before commencing exports from the Indian plant, the manufacturer will first showcase the Gixxer at a number of motor shows in a bid to gauge feedback from prospective customers. The Japan-spec model will also be powered by the same 154.9cc engine that currently produces 14.8 PS and 14 Nm of torque, paired to a 5-speed gearbox.
The Suzuki Gixxer has hit the sweet spot between value and performance and that is what makes the model a compelling buy. Since its launch in October 2014, the manufacturer has been retailing around 6000-7000 units every month and the company also achieved the 50,000 mark in sales. Earlier this week, the manufacturer launched the Gixxer SF in the country priced at Rs 83,439/- that is further set to increase the Gixxer’s position in the segment. Apart from Suzuki, Yamaha too exports the YZF-R15 to Japan from India.
