Rajahmundry will boast of the longest bathing ghat in the country once the Godavari Pushkaralu begins on July 14. The 1,200 meter-long ghat is currently being constructed at the Kotilingala Revu on the banks of Godavari. The ghat can accommodate about five lakh people once it is setup.

A large idol of Siva with water sprinklers will also be constructed in the middle of the ghat. Meanwhile the 176-metre long Saraswati ghat is being spruced up to cater to the needs of VVIPs. A Saraswathi temple is being constructed at a cost of Rs four crore which is being hailed as Andhra Pradesh’s Basara.

The irrigation department is constructing 250 bathing ghats in the twin Godavari districts for ensuing Pushkarams at a cost of Rs 94 crore. The length of ghats varies from 5 meters to 1,200 meters.
