The most comprehensive update to the small hatchback since its launch, Tata Motors has unveiled the 2015 Nano GenX Easy Shift with a host of improvements and visual tweaks along with the addition of the Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). Tata Motors has revealed the first official image of the hatchback on its social media channels and will further reveal the car in a phased manner, building up to the launch next month.

The 2015 Tata Nano GenX gets a revised front fascia sporting the new “smiling” grille in the bumper at the front and rear, it now comes with integrated fog lamps. You also get smoked headlamps, a gloss black finished lip-stripe on the front hood and bigger tyres. The changes to the cabin are yet to be revealed. The other major addition is the new openable rear hatch that has made the boot extremely accessible and gives access to around 110-litres of boot capacity.

In terms of power, the Tata Nano GenX uses the same 624cc twin-cylinder petrol engine with 38 PS of power and 51 Nm of torque but will now come with an AMT unit, making it the country’s most affordable automatic car. With the AMT unit and additional weight over the outgoing version, the Nano GenX has taken a hit in fuel efficiency and is said to return 21.9 km/l. The fuel tank though has been increased to 24-litres from the current 15-litres. Tata has also added the new Sangria Red colour to the Nano GenX Easy Shift.
