Union Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the Hyderabad Metro Rail project. Dattatreya, who made his first visit to the Nagole depot on Saturday, asked the Metro Rail authorities to expedite the works.


“The Centre has allotted Rs 2,500 crore for the project and authorities should expedite the works,” he said. Dattatreya interacted with Metro Rail MD NVS Reddy and had a glimpse of its features. He asked the State to take the initiative and settle the issues related to land acquisition soon so that the Metro will soon hit the track.

“A discussion with land owners and managements will give positive results,” he opined. Dattatreya stated that he will soon meet Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and discuss the issue in detail. HMR authorities explained that they are planning to launch the much awaited project by Dasara 2016.

NVS Reddy said that local talent will be given priority to fill up jobs in Metro Rail project. He added that the Metro Rail will be launched next year as the first phase of launch was stalled due to technical reasons. “Fifty per cent of the works have been completed so far and pillars are being set up along the 43 kilometers stretch,” he said.
