FARMERS’ ISSUES

Hyderabad: Kisan Khet Mazdoor Congress chairman M Kodanda Reddy has dismissed the allegations of BJP and TRS that Congress neglected farmers during its regime. Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan here on Saturday, Kodanda Reddy said Congress has always protected the interest of farmers, irrespective of whether or not it was in power.

He challenged Telangana BJP President G Kishan Reddy and TRS MP K Kavitha for an open debate on the issue of farmers' welfare. He accused both the parties of implementing anti-farmers' policies. Stating that the State Government did not respond despite 960 farmers committing suicide, he said that the Congress would continue to fight for the farmers' rights.

Addressing a separate press conference, TPCC Chief Spokesperson Dr D Sravan said it was strange that the BJP-led NDA Government accepted the figure of 69 suicides submitted by the TRS Government of Telangana.
