City gears up for Swachh Hyderabad

In what can be termed as a coordinated effort top officials of the greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Police department, HMWSSB and other departments met at the training programme to prepare themselves for Swachh Telangana and Swachh Hyderabad on Tuesday.

GHMC Special Officer and Commissioner Somesh Kumar and Special Commissioner Navin Mittal explained the salient features and dos and don’ts of the Swachh Telangana and Swachh Hyderabad campaign. The campaign will kick off on May 16 and conclude on May 20, 2015. On May 14, the nodal officers and team leaders would be visiting their respective areas to interact with local representatives, Resident Welfare Associations and colony secretaries.

Somesh Kumar said that instant repair teams have already been formed and necessary equipment like crow bars, sand, metal, hand grooms etc., have been provided in each vehicle, and it is the responsibility of the citizens to join hands and help the GHMC while taking up the programme in their areas for lifting of garbage, debris etc.,

M Mahender Reddy, Commissioner of Police while addressing the nodal officers said that all the officials must take a responsibility to make the city pollution free. The Police Department has also deputing ACPs, Inspector of Police, Sub Inspectors in all the 400 segments

About 450 to 500 officials of HMWS&SB department are also participating in the programme and would attend the complaints on sewerage, drainage related works will be taken up during this programme.
