City-based Johnson Football Club had a very successful outing in the All India Invitational prize-money football tournament, which concluded in Udgir late Monday evening. In a closely contested summit clash, inspired by goals from Pratap Reddy, Vineet and Anuj, they warded off the menacing threat from Artillery Centre Hyderabad to post an exciting 3-2 win.

Earlier, in the semifinals, Johnson FC prevailed over Aurangabad Football Club 4-3 via penalty shootouts. The title triumph was worth Rs one lakh in prize-money. Incidentally, the team is dedicated to the memory of Johnson Xavier, who was captain of State Bank of Hyderabad (SBH) and also Andhra Pradesh during his playing days, according to SBH coach, E S Shyam. The bank management greeted the triumphant team on the occasion.
