APSRTC managing director N Sambasiva Rao launched high bandwidth WiFi services at Pundit Nehru APSRTC bus stand in Vijayawada on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, he said the BSNL and Quadgen are jointly providing the WiFi services at the bus stand for the convenience of passengers.

Basing on the performance, similar services would be introduced in Tirupati and Visakhapatnam soon. He said that the APSRTC is planning to upgrade its facilities in all bus stands. He said the WiFi facility would be available for 400 to 500 persons at a time at the bus stand.

Passengers can avail the services free of cost till Tuesday. Later, the providers will charge for the services. The RTC MD said that TV entertainment would be provided in all AC buses by forming a special wing in RTC. He said the private agencies failed to maintain the services in RTC.

He added that priority would be given for passenger amenities and Rs 52 crore has been allotted for civil works in RTC bus stands including upgrading toilets. The RTC MD said that RTC head quarters would be shifted to Vijayawada by August 15 after the official formation of TSRTC.

Quadgen Chief operating officer Satish Benarji said that they are providing WiFi services at RTC bus stand through 802.11AC access point. Adding that advancements enable high speed internet would be provided from each 5G WiFi hot spot. RTC regional manager G Sudesh Kumar and others were present.
