The Bhavani Island in Vijayawada is going to be developed as international tourist spot. Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has said that over 5,000 acres of land in the Krishna river including Bhavani Island would be developed as an international tourist spot.

In a review meeting conducted at his camp office on Friday, the Chief Minister said that foreign companies are coming forward to invest in tourism development and are showing special interest in developing Bhavani Island.

Chandrababu Naidu is keen on developing the island as an international tourism spot as it is lying in close vicinity of the proposed capital Amaravathi. It may be noted that several people tried to take possession of Bhavani Island in the past to develop it as a tourism spot on Public Private Partnership (PPP).

But Chief Minister is said to be concrete in developing the island with the collaboration of foreign companies to attract international tourists and boost the State’s tourism quotient. At present the AP Tourism Development Corporation is using around 30 acres of the Bhavani Island for building cottages.
