Instagram rolls out support for higher resolution 1080 x 1080 images

Facebook-owned Instagram has now announced it’s rolling out support for higher resolution images – 1080 x 1080 pixels. This means it has doubled the previous upload resolution of 640 x 640 pixels.

So, don’t be surprised if the photos in your stream start looking crisper. The new announcement comes from Instagram co-founder Mike Krieger and the update will be rolling out to both Android and iOS.

The company says the new feature has been rolling out for a week, and most users should start seeing the change. It should be noted that the new feature doesn’t come in the form of an app update, but it is a change that has been made on the server side.
