The divisional railway manager, Ashok Kumar, south central railway, said that free WiFi services would soon be introduced at the stations. He said, “The railway authorities provide free WiFi to passengers for the first thirty minutes.”
Speaking on the advancements for the railways, the DRM said that two additional coaches would be attached to Gowtami express as per the decision of railway authorities and that the train would be operated with twenty-six coaches by making necessary arrangements at different railway stations.
According to Kumar, the railway division netted revenue of Rs 36 crore during Godavari pushkarams this year. He said over 32 lakh devotees utilised the services of railways by travelling in 508 special trains and 428 extra coaches augmented for the pushkarams.
The DRM expressed confidence to meet demands for the coming Krishna pushkaralu. He said that the interlock route-relay system would be completed by the end of this year and that it would allow trains from different directions to any platform of the railway station.
The DRM, who was felicitated by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for smooth operations during the pushkaralu, said all the trains were provided halts at Kovvur and Godavari stations for the convenience of pushkar devotees and that priority was given for passenger safety. “1500 railway staff worked round the clock to monitor proper running of trains for all the twelve days,” he said.
