International Laughter Yoga chief to be in city

ABC (Always Be Cheerful) Laughing Club is organising programmes on August 8 and 9, in connection with the visit of Dr Madan Kataria, president, International Laughter Yoga, at various centres. Club chairperson Shirin Panjwani said that an event at Public Gardens, Nampally from 6:00 to 8:30 am; seminar and interaction with students of Sujatha School, Abids; public session at Safilguda from 12:30 pm and a laughter session at Devnar School for Blind 4:30 pm are the programmes on the first day.


The next day programmes include public session and seminar at Dr G S Malkote Park, Vittalwadi from 6 am, training programmes (teachers) at Agrasen Bhavan, Babu Khan Estate, Basheerbagh from 9.30 am to 5 pm. Speaking about the innovative yoga practice, Panjwani informed that Dr Madan Kataria, physician and former registrar at Jaslok Hospital, Mumbai, started a revolution of joy and laughter by founding the Laughter Club of India and developed the technique called ‘Laughter Yoga’.

Enumerating the impact of laugher for positive health, Dr Kataria said, “laughter has a positive impact on various systems of the body and it helps to remove the negative effects of stress, which is the number one killer today. More than 70 per cent of illnesses like B P, heart disease, anxiety, depression, insomnia, allergies, asthma, tension headaches, stomach upsets and even cancer are related in some way to stress. Laughter helps to boost the immune system, which is the master key for maintaining good health.”
