Software giant IBM has signed an understanding with Usha Rama College of Engineering and Technology at Telaprolu on Friday, to open a software lab for emerging technologies under its career education programme.

College chairman Sunkara Rama Brahmam and principal V Rajesh said, “The lab is meant to equip faculty members and students with practical knowledge and skills to develop and deploy applications for cloud environment and big data.”

Commenting on the advantages of the merger he said, “The students can access IBM Bluemix cloud platform, which is based on open standards and cloud to build, deploy, manage and run omni-channel applications like web and mobile, big data and other smart services. The IBM partnership will be immensely beneficial to students of the college to achieve professional expertise and get good placements in major software firms.”

Expressing his delight on the merger, Kaushik Bhaskar, vice-president of Information Integration and Governance Software and India Software Labs said, “We are pleased to partner with Usha Rama College, which will help us blend technical and problem-solving skills that are necessary to prepare students for careers driven by new technologies like Cloud, Analytics and Big Data.”

“Students will undergo experiential learning modules along with innovative curriculum developed and taught by IBM while working on projects that emanate from real world business scenarios," he added.
