Prof Rao, in his lecture on ‘Science and Technology in India - Its Future’, said, “India contributes less than 1 per cent to the top world research.

The quality of Indian science has not improved much. High quality research comes from the US and China. There is no change in India’s position in this regard.” He urged for the development of scientific research and said, “Developing our institutions by investing more is the primary requisite to improve our stature in the field of science and research.

More than investment on research, what we really need is the mind. We should remember that in today’s science, one has to gallop even to remain stationary.”“Science and education must be given top priority.

All our citizens need to develop scientific attitude and broad outlook as the future of the country depends on people who will contribute to the society with commitment. Teaching should be accorded great respect in our value system to achieve the goal,” he added.
