Players from more than 50 schools competed against each other in the three-day 5th Rukmini Bai International Table Tennis and Chess tournament organized by the Secunderabad Public School. In a welcome change, new paddlers made their mark in this year’s edition. Several longstanding champions were sent packing by the young brigade.


P Madhusudhan Rao, chairman and correspondent said that the emergence of new players augurs well for the annual event.” Prize Money to the tune of nearly a lakh was given away to the winners and runners-up. The highlight of the event was the two newsletters Grace and Race Ace brought out on all the days of the tournament by the students. A senior teacher remarked, “It not only gives exposure to the students but also boosts their confidence.”
