The city police organised awareness programmes for college girls to educate them on the safety aspects of the newly launched mobile application, 4th Lion. The police on Tuesday said the awareness meets on the mobile app covered 14,835 girls from various colleges.
Station House Officers (SHOs) and policewomen who conducted the programmes, urged the college girls to use the 4th Lion app without being hesitant if they were faced with eve-teasers or any threat from anti-social elements. A short film on Vijayawada Police Citizen Services was also screened at the awareness meet.
During interactive sessions, the police got feedback from students on various people friendly measures initiated by Vijayawada Commissionerate. They promised to come up with more initiatives to ensure the safety of college girls and women in the city.
