About 75 students from West Bengal were cheated by a coaching centre run by Bipul Bhasha of Alipore district in the name of B Ed examinations. Bhasha is believed to have escaped with Rs 40 lakh in cash and original educational certificates of the candidates.The incident came to light on Monday, when victims approached Bhaskar Bhushan, Superintendent of Police, West Godavari District yesterday.


According to police, Bhasha was running a coaching centre in Alipore, West Bengal. He used to send the candidates for examinations to various universities. With this, about 75 Students of same district paid Rs 65,000 to Rs 80,000 for attending B Ed entrance examination, which Bhasha told them would be held in Eluru, West Godavari.


After getting the amount from the students, Bhasha told them that the exams will be held in Eluru of West Godavari, Rampachodavaram in East Godavari and Bhimunipatnam in Visakhapatnam District on August 10. He along with the students reached Eluru on August 6. All the students took rooms in various hotels at Powerpet. Later, Bhasha took the original educational certificates of the students from them saying that he required those for issuing the hall tickets.


In the morning, when the students woke up, Bhasha had disappeared from his lodge. After several attempts to contact him, the students approached Eluru Legislator Badeti Kota Rama Rao (Bujji) and explained the issue. The Legislator and Agriculture Market Yard Chairman K Ramprasad immediately informed the matter to two town police and District Superintendent of Police. SP Bhaskar Bhushan immediately responded on it and informed the matter to Cooch, Bihar, SP Rajesh Jadav.

Bipul Bhasha collected the money in a planned manner. He first collected Rs 5,000 as registration fee of B Ed, entrance exams and after one month Rs 50,000 to 60,000 from the victims. The victims told SP that Bhasha took their original certificates and requested to take action to return those original certificates. The victims told reporters that their parents and the locals have been showing agitation at the Coaching centre in Alipore district, on hearing of the fraud.
