City officials have their share of play

The 5-day Interdepartmental Volleyball Tournament of Vijayawada Division of the South Central Railway (SCR) was inaugurated by Divisional Sports Officer K Nagendra Prasad at the Railway Institute in the city on Wednesday.

The team for the Inter Divisional Volleyball Tournament to be held in Secunderabad from September 15, will be selected based on the performance of players in the interdepartmental event. Pool A, B, C and D matches were held in the first set of the tournament.

Teams from mechanical, engineering, electrical and commercial departments played the first set of matches. The RPF team refrained from participating in the tournament. The second sets of matches were held for teams of Operations, Diesel Loco Shed, Electrical Loco Shed, Electrical (TRSO), Signal and Telecom wings.

Senior divisional personnel officer M Sriramulu, chief staff and welfare inspector N Arjuna Rao, Railway Institute secretary S Venkateswara Rao, international referee D Netaji and others were present at the inaugural function of the tournament.
