Senior citizens rock on the dance floor
Grandma and Grandpas exhibited beautiful dance performance defying their age. Association of Senior Citizens of Hyderabad organised a ‘Dance Granny Dance’ programme at Lions Bhavan in Secunderabad recently. Padma Shri awardee Dr Shobha Naidu was chief guest at the event. Initially, the senior citizens entertained themselves by singing Telugu and Hindi songs.

Later a dozen women from Mythri Mahila Mandali of Gandhinagar presented solo and group performances, dancing to the tunes of old movies. The icing on the cake was when nonagenarian enacted the role of a devoted Shabari offering fruits to Lord Rama. Dr Shobha Naidu spoke encouragingly of the elders’ attempts to tap their legs. On the whole grandma and grandpas demonstrated that age is no bar but just a number.
