A salute to organ donors

To commemorate Organ Donation Day on Thursday, KIMS Hospitals honored donors and their families, whose gesture provided a second lease of life to others. Actor and producer Dr M Mohan Babu was the chief guest on the occasion. In addition to felicitating these members of donors’ families, the senior actor stressed on the importance and need of organ donation.

Commending the gesture of the donors and the strengthen shown by their family members, Dr B Bhaskar Rao, MD and CEO, KIMS Hospitals, said, “Donating organs is a noble act which will help rebuild several lives. Every year thousands die due to non-availability of organs, and this situation can be improved by creating awareness about organ donation and clearing the social and cultural myths that exist in the society.

I thank Dr Mohan Babu garu for pledging his own organs and for taking this big step in the right direction that will surely inspire many.” Emphasising on the importance of organ donation to save lives, Dr. Mohan Babu said, “When a loved one departs from us, it pains, But when the family decides to donate the organs of the deceased, they are not just leasing a new life to the one who are in need, but also giving an opportunity to their loved ones to live on in someone else.”
