The three-day ‘Varuna Japam’ to propitiate the Rain-God concluded on a grand note at Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devasthanam atop Indrakeeladri yesterday. Priests and Vedic scholars performed Abhishekam with the Krishna River water to Lord Malleswara Swamy during the ritual.

Sahasra Kalasabhishekam' was performed on the final day of the ritual. Temple Executive Officer Ch Narasinga Rao along with his wife Vijayalakshmi participated in Purnahuti marking the culmination of Varuna Japam. Varuna mantra' was recited 3 lakh times by Vedic scholars and priests during the ritual.

Temple head priest Vishnubhotla Siva Prasad Sarma said, “We prayed for bountiful rain to end the current dry spell in the state. We hope that the state will be blessed with copious rain in the coming weeks after the performance of Varuna Japam.”
