A seminar for protection of snakes was organised at KBR National Park on Saturday. The event was organised in association with Animal Rehabilitation and Protection Front (ARPF), Friends Snakes Society (FSS) and other similar NGOs in view of Naga Panchami festival that falls on Wednesday.

A seminar for protection of snakes was organised at KBR National Park on Saturday. The event was organised in association with Animal Rehabilitation and Protection Front (ARPF), Friends Snakes Society (FSS) and other similar NGOs in view of Naga Panchami festival that falls on Wednesday.


Konda Mohan, divisional forest officer, KBR National Park, said, “Killing or harassing snakes is strictly prohibited and punishable under the Wild Life Protection Act, 1972. You can report incidents of snake harassment to Friends Snakes Society on 98660-59903 or the toll free number, 1800 4255 365.”


Massive banners were displayed at important points to create awareness, as per the directions of PK Sarma, chief wild life warden and Vinay Kumar, chief conservator of forests. Participating organisations and NGOs working for the ‘Save Snakes’ campaign, were felicitated at the event.
