The president of Jana Vignana Vedika Tummala Sri Kumar stressed the need to promote scientific reasoning among people and eradicate superstitions in society, on Sunday. Speaking at a seminar on ‘Social Conditions - Role and Importance of Scientific Awareness’ held at the Vijayawada Book Festival Society (VBFS) Hall, he said superstitions in society could not be eradicated without enlightening people.

”Scientific reasoning and logical thinking enable people to understand social issues better. Blind faiths about things will vanish once people start questioning the deeds of fake Godmen and Godwomen, who are thriving by exploiting their ignorance,'' he said. The Jana Vignana Vedika city committee was reconstituted on the occasion.

Dr M Sudhakar, Oleti Siva Prasad and K Muralidhar were elected honorary president, president and general secretary of the JVV city unit respectively. JVV State education sub-committee president V Murali Mohan, district general secretary K Srinivas and others were also present.
