Ideas are immortal, says Sunil. Imagine this-A man has roots growing from his head and branches with leaves and fruits from rest of his body, going down into the earth.

Imagine this-A man has roots growing from his head and branches with leaves and fruits from rest of his body, going down into the earth. This is one of the many paintings by Sunil Lohar, an art lecturer and artist, who showcased his latest art exhibits themed ‘When I Fall I Fly’, from July 25 to August 16, at Kalakriti Art Gallery, Hitec City.

Sunil opines that that everyone takes energy from the cosmos through head, the energy which creates ideas that are converted into actions called fruits. This formed the inspiration for his painting, ‘Ashwatha’.

An avid philosophy reader, Sunil believes that universe is the power that we believe to be God, is like the never-ending sky. On the contrary, everything on earth has an expiration date. Therefore, he says, sky is the God that gives power for generating ideas, which are the only things on earth that never end.

Like mirrors to the soul

The artist gives his viewers freedom to see themselves through these paintings. The paintings thus, serve as mirrors to our soul. There is a magnificent portray of the tongue tied around the body depicting that we are restricted to and defined by our words.

Another gem shows a little finger holding a huge world with houses and people; man is the bearer of weights he is willing to carry. “I respect water colours, the medium of my painting. We have a dialogue, the colours and I.

First stroke is my initiation, and then the paint gives the second stroke as a reply,” said Sunil. Sunil Lohar’s prime guru is his father, MB Lohar. He is currently pursuing his Ph D in art, along with working as an art lecturer for engineering students. The man in his paintings is he himself, said Sunil Lohar.
