Move over banana, minions now croon Ra-Ra-Ra-Rakhee

Minions are a hot craze among kids and elders. A handcrafting workshop for children was organised at Lamakaan on Saturday. The kids thoroughly enjoyed designing rakhees themed on their favourite character.

Poornima, a software professional, who has passion for art and craft, organised the event. “Celebrating Rakshabandhan with handmade minion rakhees using Quilling to create interest among kids was unique and exciting,” she said.

The bond between brother and sister is a beautiful relation and Rakhee is one of the special occasions. Small girls love to tie special rakhees to their brothers. Poornima got inspired by her own children to create these designs.

“I like to teach kids and want to make parents realise that every kid has an inner talent one of the is art and craft. Talking about paper Quilling, it’s an easy method of making rakhees by rolling the paper and giving them different shapes and sizes like circle, flower, cartoons, etc.

Children would find it simple and fascinating to show their inside skills and fair.” points out Poornima. She also designs handmade cards, designer ear-rings and many more artistic stuff for special occasions and her sister and brother are part of the team.

“The easy way to make a designer minion is to take strips of papers and roll them to create different parts like eyes, nose, and body. Then blend them into the shape of a Minon cartoon.” concludes poornima.
