SCB demolishes illegal structures

The demolition squad of Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) swung into action once again after keeping low for over a month. Several shops and sheds on Kharkhana and Bowenpally market near Diamond Point were demolished here on Thursday.Last month, over 50 shops were razed to the ground on July 22 and 23.

A senior SCB official said that ample time was given to the people who encroached on SCB land to vacate but in spite of warnings they did not vacate leading to demolitions. Right of way to pedestrians is a major issue and encroachments on main roads have been a cause of worry say officials. In the last one month, most demolitions were undertaken of commercial establishments who had encroached on government land.
