The Shah Hatim Lake near the Golconda Fort is once again in the spotlight. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials visited the lake on Friday to take stock of the status of the lake. The team also visited Katora House pond.

The Shah Hatim Lake near the Golconda Fort is once again in the spotlight. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials visited the lake on Friday to take stock of the status of the lake. The team also visited Katora House pond.


It may be noted that the GHMC sanctioned nala widening works at Hakimpet nala and Tolichowki and properties were also identified for land acquisition but there has been no progress on that front.


The visit by the corporation officials is significant as over the years many encroachments have taken place. GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar directed officials to prepare proposals for works to be taken up. Funds for Katora House The team also visited Katora House at Golconda which was used as a swimming pool in olden times. Rs 1.25 crore was sanctioned for the modernisation of the swimming pool.


Somesh Kumar said that fountain, lighting, landscaping would be the highlights of the restoration apart from other modern facilities. Kauser Mohiuddin, MLA, Karwan Assembly constituency, Kishan, Zonal Commissioner (Central), Suresh, Chief Engineer, N Ravi Kiran, Additional Commissioner (H&S) along with senior officials of the GHMC took part in the inspection.
