Hyderabad-based startup SuperGenie Innovation Labs recently launched an Android app ‘SuperGenie.’ The app is a free personal assistant on mobile for ordering and shopping for anything by chatting.

Users of the app can chat with SuperGenie agents and order food, movie tickets, flight and bus tickets, groceries, hotel reservations, make bill payments, prepaid recharges and shopping for any product. Not only will SuperGenie search for the best available prices and offers, but also place the order on behalf of the user.

Though current support is for English, Hindi and Telugu, the company is working on making the service multilingual soon to support chats in other languages as well. The company intends to earn affiliate fee by entering into partnerships with various service providers in different categories (example MakeMyTrip, ClearTrip in travel, FoodPanda in food, Flipkart, Snapdeal in shopping etc.).

Based at the Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (CIE) in the IIIT Hyderabad campus, the company is working on developing a complete ‘messaging commerce’ platform by automating and seamlessly integrating the chat, search and order processes.

The most innovative feature of the platform is an Artificial Intelligent (AI) system for automating chats, which would allow it to scale rapidly and handle thousands of chats simultaneously without having a large team of agents. The founders of SuperGenie are Chaitanya Pampana (CEO) and Prabhjot Singh (CTO).

While Chaitanya has about 10 years experience in business strategy and investment management, Prabhjot has five years of experience in technology. Chaitanya is an alumnus of the Indian School of Business (ISB) Hyderabad and IIIT, gave up his job at a leading healthcare focused private equity firm to pursue his entrepreneurial dream. For Prabhjot, an alumnus of BITS Pilani, SuperGenie is his third startup; his previous ventures were Message Dance and AlumTree.
