Actress Dia Mirza will be the show stopper for designer Anita Dongre’s collection at the upcoming Lakme Fashion Week here. “Dia Mirza has lent a great amount of support to our endeavour and she will be opening my show at the fashion week along with a strong message,” Anita said.

The designer said the theme for LFW’s this season is ‘Handcrafted Traditions of India’ where she has endeavoured to showcase the beauty of traditional Indian craft. “It’s the crafts that are the showstopper this season. The endeavour is to bring to limelight unique forms of craftsmanship from each area depicting the diversity and intricacy of each one of these original creations.

And to inspire people to adapt these old traditions into modern everyday life,” Anita said. Offering a glimpse into the legacy of crafts, Anita will be seen painting a modern contemporary picture through a unique showcase through the theme. “Traditional Indian crafts have been a treasure from the yesteryears.

Our craft traditions embodies the highest levels of excellence with a legacy that dates back hundreds of years and our endeavour is to showcase the beauty that lies in our roots,” she said. On being asked about the collection and inspiration behind it, Anita said, “India’s myriad craft traditions and living craft skills are exceptional and irreplaceable resources.

They have been a treasure from the yesteryears, transcending across time and generations.” The colour story that the ace designer would be displaying on the runway include cream, red, pink and others. “The artistic palette, comprising traditional techniques and indigenous motifs, shuttles between soft neutrals like cream and flesh to vibrant jewel tones of ruby reds, peacock blues and raani pinks adding a touch of the old world charm,” she said.

Anita will present her collection on day two of the five-day fashion extravaganza which begins from August 26.
