Launching the National Eye Donation Fortnight at a programme organised by Swetcha Gora Eye Bank at Vasavya Mahila Mandali in the city, he said that people should come forward to pledge their eyes. Students and social activists should educate people on organ donation which gives a new lease for people in need, he said.

Presiding over the programme, former MP Chennupati Vidya said that an essay writing competition for students would be organised on Wednesday as part of the Eye Donation Fortnight. A painting contest for students on August 28, singing and quiz competitions on September 1 and 2 would also be conducted as part of the campaign.

Awareness meets and rallies will be organised and pamphlets on significance of eye donation would be distributed to people during the fortnight, she said.
