New developments in Stereotactic Radio Surgery (SRS) for brain tumours was the primary topic discussed at the recently held symposium organised by American Oncology Institute (AOI), at Hotel Park Hyatt, in Hyderabad.

Presentations on SRS, which is a non-surgical radiation therapy used to treat functional abnormalities and small tumours of the brain, include a current account of the procedure by the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, USA and techniques adopted by AOI, such as True Beam, by surgeons of the institute. In addition, Dr Vijay Saradhi, HOD Neurosurgery at Nizams Institute of Medical Sciences, focused his discussion on the surgical techniques for Acoustic Schwannoma.

Neurosurgeons like Heron Dwight, Chairman, Dept of Radiation Oncology, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and Dr Johnathan, Director, Neuroendoport Surgery Program, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center joined the conference live through a video network while many experts of the field participated in the conference.
