A district level Science Drama Contest was held at the KSR Zilla Parishad Girls High School at Patamatalanka in the city on Wednesday. Ten teams from five divisions of Krishna district took part in the contest. The winner will have an opportunity to take part in the State level Science Drama Contest.
A district level Science Drama Contest was held at the KSR Zilla Parishad Girls High School at Patamatalanka in the city on Wednesday. Ten teams from five divisions of Krishna district took part in the contest. The winner will have an opportunity to take part in the State level Science Drama Contest.
Speaking to The Hans India, District Science Officer and programme coordinator P Murali said that the divisional level contests were already held at Machilipatnam, Nuzvid, Gudivada, Nandigama and Vijayawada. Ten teams qualified for the district level competition.
The State level drama contest is scheduled to be held from October 5 to 7. 13 teams from 13 districts in AP will vie for the top honour. The winner of the State level contest will qualify to represent Andhra Pradesh at the South India Science Drama Festival 2015, which will be held at Bengaluru in the last week of October.
The drama contest is being held on the theme ‘Science and Society’. There are a few sub-themes like ‘Life and Work of Scientists’, ‘Save our Soul’, `Science in Daily Life’, `Light and Life’, `Innovate or Perish’ and ‘Cleanliness and Health’. Students of 8th, 9th and 10th classes are eligible to take part in the contest. Each team is strictly limited to eight members.
The drama should not exceed 30 minutes. The first 5 minutes of the drama can be allotted for setting properties on the stage, he added. Nandi Award winner and artist K Ganesh Kumar and Common Examinations Board Director V Rama Krishna acted as judges for the drama contest. Organising committee members I D Srinivas, VTR Nehru, A Srinivasa Rao, K Manikyala Rao, KVS Eswara Rao and Md Hussain and school teachers were present.
