ASAP at Madhapur (Near Cyber Towers), is a mix of rusticity and fun - When Rehan Guha, a Chef by training, took over the place (earlier it was Ziti) he chose to add quirky elements, cartoons and made it colourful. ASAP at Madhapur (Near Cyber Towers), is a mix of rusticity and fun - When Rehan Guha, a Chef by training, took over the place (earlier it was Ziti) he chose to add quirky elements, cartoons and made it colourful. On entry one is greeted by an imposing pool table that is sure to draw a lot of attention, Rehan plans to add Foosball and other games, some of which can be played at the table.

The games are a deviation, while the guests wait for their order and, for a change, they will interact over games, rather than get busy with their mobiles, shares the chef turned restaurateur. All the more reason, he says that he has named his bistro, ‘ASAP’ and ‘S’ is anything but ‘Soon’.

‘It can be anything – As sociable As Possible; As Sassy As Possible; As Spicy As Possible. One of the walls has the many options given to the ‘S’ written in pop colours adding to the liveliness and for anyone who comes up with more – Rehan has a surprise stacked away for you.

Well, the menu is equally sassy - it’s casual, non-fussy and has something of everything. There’s continental, Tex-mex, Chinese and Mexican – with popular dishes that claim to be anything but authentic. The stress is on flavours and the Chef did not hesitate to add his touch to make the menu more vibrant, be it the sauces, the accompaniments or just the way the whole recipe is treated.

For example the Chicken Wings are not the American crumb-coated style, but made nice and juicy by tossing the baked wings in Louisiana hot sauce (vinegar and tobasco adding to the tangy spice that is finger-licking good). The Mushroom and Risotto Burger (quite a recipe with risotto and mushroom made into a crunchy patty) and Panko crumb fried Zucchini are nice tries for vegetarians.

For others there’s the Pulled Lamb Burger flavoured with Rosemary. Then, there is the Cajun Spiced Chicken Skewers that one can never have enough of, especially when dipped in the Mayonnaise that has a mild touch of mustard. The pizzas too have been tampered with, but who can complain if you can get to eat a pizza topped with hummus in addition to the tomato, onion, olives, mozzarella and feta (just a sprinkling to make it more enticing).

What more, the pizzas come in square shape. Why not, says Rehan and we more or less agree. One can also try the Farmer’s Pizza with its topping of grilled chicken and boiled egg. On the Indian fare are the Paos – Prawn 65, Kheema Pao, Chilli Chicken Pao, Chilli Mushroom Pao. Desserts menu is short yet yummy and guilt-ridden - Pancake with Chocolate Mousse, Warm Dark Chocolate with Mocha Fudge Cake, Cheese Cake.

If one needs to describe ASAP – it is that place one gets to hangout, relax over drinks (that include the likes of Watermelon Mojito) while you eat the pizzas, pastas, burgers, paos, steaks, grills and stews, noodles, sizzlers, in short food that is soul-satisfying.
